Saturday 1 July 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Long Lake Fen of Waterloo Rec Area
Trip Leader: Bev Walters
We'll follow a power-line cut south of Green Lake where there are some plants favoring open oak woodlands, such as Ceanothus americana and Quercus prinoides, then we'll cut through the dry oak woods to a fen at the N end of Long Lake where other interesting plants reside, including several species of orchids. The 40 min hike to the fen mostly follows footpaths, but in the open fen the footing is uneven, so the excursion will be moderately difficult. Bring insect repellent, water, snack, and footwear for wet conditions.
Carpool: from the Miller Rd. I-94 park-n-ride 10:00 a.m. departure; or meet along the west side of the curve in the road to Green Lake Campground (off M-52) at 10:30 AM.
