Next meetings - 

  • September 17, Saturday, 2:00-4:00 PM- Jesse Lincoln will lead a fall field trip from Lowell Charter Township Hall, south of Lowell Michigan ( 2910 Alden Nash SE) .  The township owns a 10 acre remnant oak barrens that was untilled.  Jessie has documented 112 native plants there, and is getting a conservation easement.  It is the best oak barrens he has seen in West Michigan and is regionally important as an ecological reference site.

  • October 15, Saturday, 2:00-4:00 PM at GVSU, Allendale campus, Kindschi Hall of Science, room 1113. - Judge Edward Post will present an illustrated program on “Those Amazing Birds.” Judge Post is a well known jurist in Michigan, and also has won many awards for his excellent botanical photographs. He announced that he is retiring as Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge at the end of this year after serving for 25 years. Judge Post plans to continue working as a photojournalist, studying nature and presenting programs. Don't miss this program!

  • November 12, Saturday 2:00-4:00 PM at GVSU- Bill Martinus and Chip Schaddelee will present a program on “In Search of Endemics in the USA.” These two devoted botanists have traveled through 37 states during 21 trips over the past 13 years to identify and list all endemics in a special area for many different organizations. They will go again this summer. You don't want to miss this program as you will be amazed to see the endemics Bill and Chip have found throughout the USA.

General Information About Meetings

  • Members of the public are welcome to attend meetings which are held on Saturday, September through April.
  • Unless otherwise noted, meetings start at 2:00 pm and are held in Room 1113, Kindschi Hall of Science, (next to the bookstore) Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI.
